In 2017, Lufthansa Technik had what was then a new workshop for aircraft wheels and brakes built on Daimlerstrasse in Frankfurt am Main. That was not cheap, because the maintenance crane made the project cost around 60 million euros. It wasn’t sustainable either, because now the « leftovers » are going under the hammer at an auction.
According to the original project description, the workshop should be the workplace for around 130 people. Aircraft wheels and brakes were primarily serviced and overhauled in the building, which was only built in 2017 for around 60 million euros. In the meantime, this location itself is “outdated”, because Lufthansa Technik has just about everything the heart desires auctioned off via an auctioneer. This is how the « leftovers » are turned into money.
On May 31, 2023, the inner workings of the site, which has since been shut down, will go under the hammer in an online auction conducted by HT Hanseatische Industrie-Consult. The auction catalog is available for viewing under this link. Interesting items must be registered on the provider’s website in advance in order to be able to bid.
